Virtual Frame by 3 (Hutchison 3G Austria) :
the Vienna project space

Virtual Frame is in 2004 the first initiative by a new cultural platform, driven by the international mobile multimedia company 3 in cooperation with the Kunsthalle Wien, and put together by three teams of curators: Lucas Gehrmann (Kunsthalle Wien), Boris Manner (University of Applied Arts, Vienna), Sabine Dreher und Christian Muhr (Liquid Frontiers).

To have “art in the pocket ,” on demand is no longer a thing of the future: the new technologies of the third generation of mobile phones by 3 (Hutchison 3G Austria) have introduced Virtual Frame to their new line of mobile phones. At all times and places within the network it is possible to call up video clips, trick films, visual pop songs, cartoons, high tech animations, abstract software suites, typographic fairy tales, digital stories, and interactive works.

Forty individuals or teams of artists have created 140 contributions specifically for this medium. The exhibition Virtual Frame (Kunsthalle,Wien, February - March 2004), will show all contributions for a limited time in the real-space of the project space within a presentation-architecture (design: OCPA) conceived specifically for this purpose. http://www.arenotech.org
